The first settlements were build by slaves to the greek, followed by romans attendants. The particular mildness of the lake climate made the diffusion of this  cultivation possible on an area vast enough to give a Mediterranean touch to the northern landscape. The colture is thus linked to tradition and the oil produced is always appreciated for its characteristic linked both to latitude and to the presence of “ precious cultivation methods” like oil press. This appreciation came from Queen Teodolinda too; she always wanted this oil on her table. This old tradition is now continued in Lenno in Vanini’s brothers oil press. It’s an old story of “oil pressers” the one of Vanini, which began in 1850. Always keeping pace with the times, but respectful of the tradition, their oil-mill has constantly been an example of passion and professionality; the gold medal they received in 1905 at Expo in Paris is a proof of it. Having renovated the plant with a traditional one (stone milling and cold pressing), Vanini oil-mill works all the olives gathered on the various sides of Lake Como with the love and the care passed on from generation to generation.
